jQuery in Action by Bear Bibeault and Yehuda Katz – This book is a really great resource if you want to teach yourself jQuery. My javascript coding was really rusty but this book had me coding almost right away. I can’t wait to start adding jQuery to this blog.

Paperback Swap – Trade in your old books for something new on this book-swapping site.
Digg – Social news site that is my favorite source for technology and science news.
iStockphoto – Great resource for inexpensive stock photos. Remember to check out their free image of the week.
Smashing Magazine – Inspiring website with loads of great articles and showcases about web and graphic design.
Threadless – Community-based t-shirt company that frequently releases new designs that are created and voted for by the users; the winner gets $2,500 in cash and prizes.

Winner of PaperbackSwap’s Twitter Background Contest

I found out last night that I had won PaperbackSwap‘s Twitter background contest. I had submitted a few different designs, but one of them seemed to be a favorite since it won both the People’s Choice award and the PBS Team Choice award! I really could not have done it without my darling Brooke Mello‘s help though, she urged me on after I was going to give up and had me design the background with the packaging motif. PaperbackSwap was really generous with the prizes, so I will definately have plenty to read this summer, and for a couple of years to come. BookMooch and PaperbackSwap Compared

I am an avid reader of books and if I kept all the books I read my bookshelves would be overflowing. But I have found a simple solution to this problem: internet book trading websites. You can easily get rid of books you no longer wish to keep while at the same time receive books that you have not yet read. Your only cost is the price of postage when you send away your books. What these sites have in common is that you set up an inventory where you list all of books that you want to give away, and when a book is requested you get one credit that you can use towards books that you have on your wish list. I am a member of two book swapping sites that slightly differ how they operate: BookMooch.com and PaperbackSwap.com.
